Pentagon’s Restricted Access: End of Free Press or Turning Point in Media?

The Pentagon’s new press policy has media reeling. It’s sticky territory. For starters, this hasn’t (allegedly) been done since Eisenhower. And only 15 journalists have signed (to date, according to published data). For many people, this leaves a weird aftertaste.

At the end of the day, though, I argue, lies an issue of a different kind — owning up to a truth:
News media as we know it is done.

And this is not just since the Pentagon’s restricted access policies. Looking at it from a bird’s-eye perspective: with all that’s going on, it becomes evident that major media still clings to reviving a news concept amid a media ecosystem that is officially dead.

Whether it’s CBS’s overvalued acquisition of Bari Weiss’s FP in an effort to slow down legacy media’s decline, or the outcry now sparked by the Pentagon's new press policy — the reality is, if we observe more holistically, our press hasn’t been truly free for a while. And perhaps, at least in the 20th century, it never really was?

It’s a tight balance to walk between protecting sources, quid pro quos, larger responsibilities toward society and institutions, the need for sensational headlines to get ratings, obligations to funders, and the original reason why mass media (in its current form) exists in the first place: a project of Edward Bernays — Sigmund Freud’s cousin — designed to play on the human psyche and shape public opinion.

Yes, the guy known as the “pioneer of public relations and propaganda,” influencing public opinion and mass behavior. He famously described the “engineering of consent” as a scientific way to shape public attitudes, drawing on the mechanisms and motives of the group mind.

In the attempts at “engineering consent” within the digital ecosystem — where division, echo chambers, and amplification of negative sentiment are the common multipliers — the press in the 21st century has lost credibility and trust. The digital media ecosystem led to an overextension of the human-made concept of mass manipulation.

[...] a media ecosystem that has taken on the dynamics of a natural ecosystem

This lost trust and credibility cannot be restored by whining, complaining, or clinging to outdated ways of operating in a media ecosystem that has taken on the dynamics of a natural ecosystem — one that has been invaded by non-native species. When foreign elements distort balance, consume resources, and unsettle the natural order, the system eventually collapses and rebalances itself anew. Like all current world governance systems not built on the basis of Natural Law and the universal principles of Creation — which actually have individual sovereignty of the human being in mind (!), not manipulation — many of these artificial constructs are collapsing.

The sooner we own up to it, the better we can navigate the transition and bring out something new — aligned with Natural Law. That means aligned with the Constitution.

It’s time to reinvent a different type of media. One that fits into the evolving ecosystem of a humanity breaking free — human renewal, and a return of the divine order. A new type of media that fits within the laws of creation and helps humanity create a beautiful world going forward, which is our actual human power and promise — not keeping us trapped in the dark, low frequencies that in turn create a dark physical world.

This process of renewal is unfolding. So, adjust, become part, and say goodbye to things that are not aligned with Natural Law and the true human destiny. In the end, it will be a victory for the people.
