A Friday Reflection on Authenticity, Perception, and Renewal
There’s a pressing question we should all ask ourselves as we watch the world morph and tremble on the edge of yet another technological leap: when was artificial ever truly better than the real thing? As AI quietly seeps into every crevice of our lives, we are being subtly trained to trust its logic and voice—much like the slow, insidious manipulation that comes from living with a narcissist. The lines between real and fake blur, truth and fiction twist until even our inner compass begins to stutter and spin.
Sometimes, AI can help us, even advance our personal journey, only if we already know how to see the bigger picture, connect the dots, and ask the right questions. But even as it assists us, I worry about future generations. To what extent will they get swept away, lost in a dark cloud of collective narcissistic energy—the hallmark of social media and the digital world? Will they have the power to reclaim their freedom?
AI already distorts our perception of reality, and the more I work with it, the more its flaws become clear. AI has a proven tendency to erase events from our collective memory, even from written biographies and books,by simply declaring, “there’s no evidence.” This is how generations lose touch with history—and become vulnerable to repeating it.
Social media and the internet: A world steeped in narcissism and amplified distortion
When our world becomes steeped in narcissism, mainstreamed until it’s the new normal, we find ourselves entrapped in a dynamic that is frighteningly similar to surviving a co-dependent, manipulative relationship with a narcissist – only this time it’s with physical reality itself and on worldwide scale.
Your reality becomes negotiable, your sense of self a malleable tool in someone else’s hands. In such a world, discernment becomes a radical act!
Nature is the antidote. I’ve been there—so lost in twisted perceptions that I doubted my own memories and recollections, even if they just happened a day earlier. Out of desperation, I began journaling every detail of my days -- what happened when, who did what, what time of day, how did things unfold -- slowly rebuilding trust in my intuition and my sense of truth. Faith in God, a constant inner leader of my life, had always anchored me when I couldn’t see a way out.
One afternoon, I watched a bird as he took off. Observing sis flight with effortless grace, I noticed a feeling of longing sweep through me. From that moment, I started astutely observing every animal I encountered—flies, birds, cats, deer—and eventually the silent endurance of plants, the spirited dance of wind through leaves.
Slowly, these observations became a living dialogue: I began to see not just forms, but energies, personalities, character qualities -- silent and yet the most living lessons encased in fur, feather, and bark.
With every interaction, nature taught me quiet, persistent Truth. Like the roots of an old tree, those truths awakened more and more of my inner aspects, bringing a long forgotten world gradually alive again. First, just tiny bits and pieces. Then larger shapes and interconnections. Layer by layer, I uncovered and found my center again. Reopening and remembering something deep and fundamental within: my own richness, a vast, untouched inner world. Unveiling new aspects, colors and qualities one step at a time. Baby steps.—Teaching me how to trust my senses, finding my voice again, speaking up, and drawing boundaries.—These revelations became a lively pathway out of the spider web of self-doubt and distortion.
Gradually, I reclaimed my power and started to untangle from the web of my own making. Yes, even watching spiders diligently creating their own web, became a revelation to me; a blueprint to the web of life and how to tear down the walls that had kept me in a cage.
To understand the nature of Nature is to become a soul reader—and that’s what sets us apart from the artificial world being built around us. It’s the key to breaking free from the collective narcissistic trap and the digital prison.
One day as the mist curled over the fields, I walked out to bring my horse in. There amidst the openness stood a single tree, and perched upon it, a pair of eagles.Their gaze was powerful, deeply present, almost searching. To reach my horse I had to walk close by them; fear thrummed in my chest. But as I drew nearer, courage—cultivated over time and struggle—carried me forward as I calmly, firmly walked by.
The eagles' message was clear: look up for guidance, walk with majesty. And know: your energy protects you. In their piercing gaze, I felt strength, acceptance, and respect coursing through me. It instantly straightened my back. As I pressed forward, my walk had changed.
I share this, because nature is the teacher we need. One to urgently reconnect with to ground ourselves and build new roots, in a world increasingly unhinged. It carries the Book of Life in everything you see. It certainly has been my guide in discerning what’s real and what’s illusion. Like learning a new language - the language of the Soul, it became a map for reading my life. And bringing new meaning and sense into its unfolding.
When the lines are blurred between artificial and natural, fact and fiction, Truth and real and illusion and deceit -- nature is the counter. Grounding us, connecting us, balancing us, teaching us to break free from inner and outer limitations, and: growing new roots. A book of life that is always there, even is one day all books are gone; people no longer read and attention spans may be just a few seconds. Nature is there. Waiting to let you into its kingdom, if you're ready to enter.
To understand the nature of Nature is to become a soul reader—and that’s what sets us apart from the artificial world being built around us. It’s the key to breaking free from the collective narcissistic trap and the digital prison.
Remember: “Digital” comes from the Latin digitus—finger. But a finger alone can’t do much. It’s the conscious integration of all fingers—the whole hand—that creates true power. In this digital world, never forget: you are the owner of both hands—one human, one divine. One, representing the microcosm, the other, the macrocosm. They hold the Whole.
